Buses By the Depot
Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009! ?No cost to attend for the day!

What it is:
A gathering of VW Bus, Vanagon, and Eurovan enthusiasts in Eastern Pennsylvania

When it is: ?
Saturday, October 3, 2009. Camping is available on-site?all weekend long, or
you can just attend for the day.

Where it is: ?
Green Lane Park, ?Green Lane, PA. ?Located in the scenic Perkiomen Valley,
roughly midpoint between Philadelphia, Allentown, and Reading, PA. ?From the
intersection of Route 63 and Route 29 (Gravel Pike) in Green Lane, travel south
1.7 miles on Rt. 29, turn right?onto Deep Creek Road (just past the crosswalk),
and turn right at the lake (first intersection). The campground is just up the
road on the right.

This scenic county park consists of over 3400 acres and three bodies of water
totaling 870 acres. Four recreational activity sites within the park offer a
variety of uses, including 50 camping sites, hiking and horseback?trails, three
tennis courts, two playgrounds, a nature center, an enclosed pavilion, fishing,
and electric boat rentals. The park is also?the starting point for the
Perkiomen Trail, a walking/cycling trail that extends 20 miles to Valley Forge
National Historical Park and then connects to the Schuylkill River Trail, which
follows the Schuylkill River an additional 11 miles past Boathouse Row to the
Philadelphia Art Museum.?

Bus Depot Warehouse Sale:
A caravan through the park?to the nearby Bus Depot (Bus/Vanagon parts
specialist) is planned for Saturday at around 2:30 pm. ?The Bus Depot (which is
usually closed weekends) will open from 3:00 to 5:00. ?A large selection?of
discontinued, distressed, and one-of-a-kind parts will be offered to attendees,
at discounts of up to 80% or even "any reasonable offer." ?Also attendees can
tour the Depot, look over any?products?they're curious about, place new orders,
and pick up any previously ordered parts. (Ordering in advance is
strongly?recommended, if there are certain items?you know you will want.)

Potluck Dinner:?
Potluck dinner will be Saturday at about 5:30 pm, for those who would like to
bring something along to share.

Day Trip Information
There is no cost to attend this gathering if you are only coming for the day
and not camping. If you are just coming for the day, you can park in the grassy
area inside the small?loop shown in the below map (sites 7 thru 15). While they
do not normally allow parking there, they are making an exception for our
event. (If a ranger questions it, mention that it was approved by Trish and
Ranger Rick.) ?Do not park in any of the campsites, as they are reserved for
those who prepaid for a site and are spending the night.
?

Camping Information
We have all of the sites around the smaller loop toward the rear of the camping
area - sites 7 thru 15.? (See map to right.)

If you would like to camp Saturday night, the cost is?$15 per vehicle (not per
site). To reserve, please send payment to bd@xxxxxxxxxxxx via Paypal, no later
than October 1st. Please note your name, address, phone number, license plate
number, and VW year/model when sending the payment. If you would like to camp
Friday night as well,?the cost is an additional?$15 per vehicle; payment method
the same as above. While more people camp Saturday night, there are generally
several who camp both nights. ?

Please note, these sites are large and 2-3 vehicles can fit on each site,
depending on the site?size. ?(If you were at previous BBD's. the park has
redrawn the sites and made each site?larger. While the loop was previously
divided into 18 sites, now it is divided into just 10.) The $15 does not buy
you an entire site, just a reasonable amount of space; please share with your
fellow campers. ?If you would like a site to yourself, please pay double ($30
per night) and specify this in the Paypal notes.

If you do not reserve, and decide upon arrival to camp anyway, find?Ron Salmon
or Dan Sheridan at the campsites, and we can tell you if there are any sites
within our loop that are still available. If not, you can get a site elsewhere
in the campground for $35 from the ranger station.

Please note that pets and alcoholic beverages are not permitted at the
campground. Also, the campground has no electrical hookups, so bring some warm
blankets in case it's chilly. (There are commercial campgrounds that do have
electric, as well as hotels and B&B's,?a short drive away. Email for details.)
