That is the great news. See it wasn't too bad after all. Make sure that compression ratio is right. -----Original Message----- From: Denis Dodson <coocoo@xxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, September 15, 2007 4:34 PM To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tcb] Re: Not a burn't piston We split the case this morning and Derrick was impressed with how little wear showed. The case is fine. Even a case stud that I had stripped and I had cut a slot in the top so that I could push the stud into whatever thread was left and JB Welded in place held when I took off the nut. The mail bearing has the teeniest movement and the connecting rod bearings have no in and out movement. Monday we will order the 90.5 pistons and we will replace all the bearings and whatever and put on new stock heads that we will open up and Murray should be on the road Thursday or Friday, certainly by next weekend. ----- Original Message ----- From: Denis Dodson To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, September 14, 2007 9:21 PM Subject: [tcb] Not a burn't piston We took off the heads and on #2 the top of the piston looked like the surface of the moon. The top most ring has become seized by the heat Around the valves the metal looked like it had melted and rehardened. Half of a valve guide was missing like it was broken off. Two of the swivel adjusters were broken. Amazingly, the cylinders look good. No scoring visible. tomorrow we will split the case and see what other horrors the God of mechanics can come up with.
