I actually found a Bay with a type 4. If I get it I would let Mark tear the
engine down and get it going good.

But I really love my current bus. It was almost rust free when I got it. No
rust around any of the windows or floors.

Just hard to decide. I would really need to sell my bus as I already have 12
old classics and have no room in the garage for another. I really don't want to
just park one under a car port.

The 1776 only has about 1000 miles on it. I may contact Udo to ask him about
the transmission choices tomorrow.

Thanks for the input. I really do take it all in helping me make a decision.

Well I'm no master mechanic, but my dad is and I know what he would
tell me.
He'd say, "Why ya wanna monkeydick around for six months trying to
hippie-rig more power outta that old piece of sh*t? Just get yourself a nice
straight newer one, clean it up and rebuild it the way Volkswagen intended."
You might also consider the mechanical and safety advancements of the
newer models. If you hit something, the steering wheel might not cut you in
half, just leave you a paraplegic. So that's something.
Also, the newer ones have much roomier pop-tops. As in, screw that one
person cot business, I'll take the double bed thank you.
The swiveling passenger seats are also very nice for hanging out.
And don't forget the fun and excitement of shopping for a new toy!
        Just my two cents.

OK fellow bus owners. I have a dilemma.

Let me start with what I have.

        1970 Westy
1776 engine. not stroker or anything special.

        what I want/need

something with a bit more pulling power. especially when I have the
small trailer behind.

So am I looking for just a bigger engine? (2110) or is there a
crank/cam combination to give me more torque?

I am also thinking of just selling this bus and getting me a later Bay
with a type 4 engine. Good idea or bad.

        Let the suggestions begin.

If you want to only respond to me here is my email oasipo209@xxxxxxxxxx
