Just so happens I have a source for the adapter to make the bug M/C fit the bus
. Terry

I don't know but I've been told Yes, the fluid in the master cylinder can leak
past the piston allowing flow but no pressure. Try pumping the pedal to see if
you can build pressure & brake. If so hold the petal down and see if it bleeds
off and goes to the floor. This is internal leak that will not show any fluid
on the ground. '67 is one year only master cylinder and expensive. If you can't
rebuild it try a '74 (I think) bug master cylinder. It is also dual reservoir
but different shaft length. I am using it as is but you can get a shim that
goes on the base where it attaches to the frame that puts the shaft at the
proper distance. As I say don't take my word for it check around.with the
experts.

New wheel cylinders, hoses, shoes and steel lines. I was wondering if the
seals failed or dried out if the fluid could squeeze by enough to give you some
flow but not enough to give you pressure.

If your master cylinder is bad, you should be able to see brake fluid under the
bus. I would also check all of the wheel cylinders as well. And all of the
lines, of course.

Okay, so I'm on the home stretch on my '67 Westy and was bleeding the brakes.
No matter how much brake fluid I ran through the system, I could not build up
any pressure at all. Fluid was moving, just wouldn't get any pressure on the
brakes. I think he shoes are adjusted fine, a little drag and e-brake works
fine.

Does this sound like the master cylinder is dead? The brakes sorta worked 15
months ago when I pushed it in the garage but nothing now.

Any advice is welcome.
