67 rear should be fine without a spacer. The fronts likewise. 63-up front drums have a smaller snout. You can also get away with a little grinding on the snout and the wheels will fit.

on the rear absolutely
the ribs on the drum cause the wheel not to sit flush so you have to run a small spacer
the front will bolt right on

I think I am confused. And if you think you are confused then you probably are. Does that makes sense? Probably not. I purchased some 5 spokes but I have not put the on my 67 yet. They are 15" which I know is 1 inch bigger than OG but five spokes aren't OG anyway. I also bought the hardware kit. I thought I was going to be ready to go when I get some tires mounted on them. Is there going to be a problem mounting these wheels? Do I need some sort of spacer? : ) Jeff (atx_bus) 66 So-42 67 sportsmobile camper

That's the problem with going to studs with Empi's, the shoulder that the lug bolts require. You have to get acorn nuts if you want to run a stock style spare wheel. -----Original Message-----

But you need to carry stock lugnuts with your stock
spare tire. I found that out the hard way. The aftermarkets are all a different
length and won't hold on the aftermarkets. So, I have the stock lugnuts in a bag
attached to the spare tire. Or you can buy and carry your aftermarket
spare

That is exactly what you have Denis. You definitely want the
stud kit with any aftermarket wheel; and they are not a bad idea with
stock wheels. Much safer than the stock type lug bolts.
Fred: Just do exactly what Denis has with wheels and
studs. --- On Thu, 2/5/09, Denis <coocoo@xxxxxxx>

That is what I have, isn't it Sammie? I
have Type 3 drums in the rear and studs and lugnuts, no spacers. And
Fred, if Sammie has wide 5 Empi's, that is what you want, isn't it?
Mine are 15s, is that a problem?

Use the screw in studs and lug nuts. Empi
has them and almost everyone stocks them; like try Jack Wenk
at Black Gold. He can also fix you up with some Empi 5
spokes if that is what you want.

CIP offers extra long wheel bolts when
using spacers, will these not work?

also you'll have to put studs in your drums
for the wheels

Re: Look'n for Safari's To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
CIP sells them. Like $18 each. Easy
to find. I dont know much about splits, but on bays,
the rear drums have ridges, and do not allow the
wheel to lay flat on the hub. Spacer is only about
1/4" thick. Sounds like an awsome plan for the bus.

That is so cool! I've decided on the polished empi 5s and the stainless safari's. My goal is a two tone white and dove blue. So I need some kind of spacer for the rear wheels?
