Sounds like the ignition switch. I am trying to remember if I replaced mine or
not

If my problem is happening it seems like paying attention to how I turn the key
makes a difference. Like when it turns over and over and doesn't start I ever
so slightly turn the key a bit back and varoom varoom he starts.  It isn't
often that nothing happens so I am not sure what I would do.

I haven't read every response yet because I am at work so maybe this has been
covered or maybe it is just a silly idea, I am no mechanic but my '71 ignition
misbehaves sometimes. It isn't very old. Sometimes it won't do anything when I
turn the key.  Sometimes it turns over like it will start but does not.  Once
it died at a traffic light and wouldn't start for 20 minutes. And most times it
is perfectly normal especially when their are people around that can help me
chase down the problem.  Just a thought.
