It's a brand new 9350 miles or so0 Bosch 6 volt. I am wondering if it is the
coil what could be the cause. I'd hate to replace it once a year if there is
something causing it. Any ideas?

I had the same problem, the cause turned out to be the COIL!!
After the engine dies touch the coil, if it’s hot, that’s the
problem.
Don’t buy a coil from Auto Zone or similar places. You need a Bosch Blue or
similar.
Standard coils are filled with oil and don’t like being mounted upside
down.
Bosch Blue coils are filled with silicone and work well upside down.

Yeah, skin is a good way to check for spark. At
least ya know for sure that you got spark.Okay back to the fuel.
