[tcb] Hey, ya'll! Brakes question

My front driver's side wheel is leaking brake fluid and I am going to find
the leak today and re-build it. The shoes are covered in fluid, but are
almost brand new. I want to re-use them. I have heard that, when soaked,
they will never be good again. I am old enough to remember my Dad covering
them with gas and lighting them on fire to "clean" them. Anybody know of
that or any way to clean them dry?
