My current plan is to leave AT MIDNIGHT the Sunday night before BBB and be in Havasu on Tuesday or Wednesday. So, that means I should actually be out of here by some time late Monday night and arrive there Thursday. I'm going to drag the bus to the shop a little later today and start the prep. Empty it out completely. Maybe pull the motor to look at that pilot bearing if I can get a spotter later this week. Already decided I'm towing even if I get the clutch fixed. I have Eric covered for the rack transport. I'm HORRIBLE to travel with. 50 - 60 mph and I drive until I can't see straight then pull over at the next available open area and sleep until I wake up. No alarm clock. No schedule. No hotels. No mid-trip camp setup. I've been looking at the route and will probably travel 190 out to Fort Stockton then I-10 toward Phoenix and I-8 around south of Phoenix and one of the I-10/I-8 connector highways to get back up on the other side of Phoenix. If the weather is nice I may go north from Fort Stockton again and up through the mountains through Carlsbad and Alomorgodo to avoid driving through El Paso. Afraid I'll end up in snow/ice if I try to go farther north around the top of White Sands missile range and I'm definitely not set up to tow (or even drive really) in those conditions. I really do like the "no Interstate Freeway" long trips though. The drive to/from Jerome this year was great.
