Subject: [tcb] Finally back home

We hear talk, and some of us have experience, of how some people are 3
paychecks away from being homeless, I have discovered how close all of our
lives are to simply flying apart, even if we have money.

Most of you know that Jan's father and brother died 8 months ago after a
violent crime. On TV shows people die and that is that, and people dieing
from natural causes is very saddening and upsetting, but having immediate
family yanked from the world of the living as the result of a violent act is
just shattering. Jan can't close her eyes without imagining the attacks on
her brother and father.

On top of the grief and anguish my beautiful wife Jan has had to endure, she
found out last week that the DA may not have enough evidence to try the guy
that they charged with the murders. This was happening as I was in San
Antonio disposing of the personal effects of her family so that we could
sell the house. One layer of sadness after another was piled on her until
she was hospitalized. She is out and OK now, but it is hard to figure out
how she came to this when, 8 months ago, she was incredibly happy with our
new home, new friends, new job, the world was a happy and exciting place.

I make her laugh alot, even when she cries. especially when she cries. I
make fun of her until she laughs. But I went away for 10 days to take care
of business and her wheels came off.

She went back to work today, even though I asked her not to, she worries
about her students and needs to get prepared for parent-teacher nights.

So, the point here is for everybody to watch out for each other, catch
people when they fall. They may catch you later.

Now I will write a funny letter.
