Made the Yukon OK show Saturday. Left Friday morning and drove the Baja which cruises just fine at 70-75. Buzzed by Jack Wenk's Black Gold on the way to pick up some parts, detoured by northwest Ft. Worth to visit my mom and then I 35 all the way to OK City. Did stop off and visit with Earl Mann in Ardmore. Had never been to his shop before. Was impressed with the some 400 bugs and busses that he has in his boneyard. Continued up 35 to OK City fighting some congestion in construction zones and arrived in Yukon (western outskirts of OK City) about 5:30. Grabbed a bite to eat, found the show site then went to the hotel and settled in for the night. Saturday morning there was lightning all over everywhere and radar didn't look good. But we dodged the weather. Cloudy and low 80s all day for the show with all of the thunderstorms off in the distance. Several busses at the show (see photos sent on another e-mail). 40+ cars in total and a relatively large swap meet. Little old lady there with a u-haul truck full selling off her deceased husbands collection of parts. Bought a few things but could have brought back a lot if I had of had the panel van with me to load up. One guy in the swap had an NOS rear gate for a SC/DC and was asking $800. Probably worth more than that. Older gentlemen driving a fair driver green single cab which had a Type III auto tranny installed. Had never seen one of these installed in a split window bus before. Said he did it himself. Was super impressed with a very nice blue/green white Westy hardtop. Was really nicely done and sporting an electronic fuel injection set up through what appeared to be webers. Saw a lot of people that I hadn't seen in a while since this was the first show in OK City in the last 3 years or so. Trophies were done at 1:30 and I was cruising home by 2:00. About 6 1/2 hours to make the 400 miles to Nac in the Baja. Fun trip but no one from the TCB or Texas either for that matter.
