Thanks all for the advice.  I just hope there wasn't too much damage done.  The 
push rod tubes all look perfectly shiny and the engine doesn't leak oil so I'm 
guessing the "rebuild" wasn't done too many miles ago.

I'm a silly woman.  I shouldn't have bought the vehicle without being able to 
really talk to the guy who had it.  Oh well.  This isn't my first silly mistake.
