[tcb] E-brake cables!!!!

I had a panel of experts about a week ago go through Murray's brakes and when
it came to installing the E-brake cables they were as stumped as I was. Stuff
just didn't fit, so I finally called Wolfgang, where I bought the swing arm
kit, and they told me that it required a '64 to '67 cable with an inch cut off
the spring and a brass tube about 2" long. I would have died of old age before
I would have figured out that combination. So, I just ordered them made up and
they arrived yesterday. YEA!
Here is where Sammie says, 'When you change one thing you have to change
something else. It was designed as it was for a reason, by cracky!"
I put Murray, no glass in the front, on his trailer and took him to BNNTA,
where people were somewhat impressed that he was going to survive smashing in
to a tree. There was an award for the bus most in need of restoration or
repair. I figured that we were a shoe in, but he didn't even make the top 3.
There were, at least, 3 other busses more in need of repair than the one who
ran in to a tree! One guy told me that I didn't win because he was already
being repaired, and another person said that Murray was in good hands and was
clearly coming back. The others might be lost causes.
When the accident happened the steering wheel was pushed to the left and
through the windshield (but the Safaris were opened at the time). The stretcher
guy brought it back to close to the original spot. At the end of the show I
started him and was going to drive through the campgrounds to show people how
good he still runs. The steering wheel was still a little to the left, so I
kinda yanked it to the right, and the bus stopped. Just stopped. I looked under
the ignition switch and found a bunch of disconnected wires. I went and got the
trailer and folks helped push him on.
Yesterday, I found 6 wires disconnected. Thank goodness Chuck and I had used
all the proper wire colors and when I reconnected them Murray started right up.
Lots of work to do to make T@P.
It has rained here for three days. Today I can take Murray out and get back to
work.
