Hello James you know they , in the past , made a clamp that was made, to make a cable shorter Emerg. cable stretch , so you put on this clamp to make them tight . They were sold at all auto supplys . If you want to be fancy , machine a wheel to wrap the cable around . In a hole ,around wheel & out a hole . Just my 2 cents Terry -----Original Message----- From: James Dwan <james_dwan_2000@xxxxxxxxx> To: tcb <tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tue, Aug 17, 2010 8:52 am Subject: [tcb] Re: E brake cable woes Yes, but I don't understand how that would take up all of the slack --- On Mon, 8/16/10, chuck <sukchew@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > From: chuck <sukchew@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] Re: E brake cable woes To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Monday, August 16, 2010, 7:17 PM Could Steve be refering to the actual valve pushrod with out the end pieces.I think the cable would pass thru them.Just a thought ? oleblue ----- Original Message ----- From: "Denis Dodson" <coocoo@xxxxxxx> To: <tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 16, 2010 6:41 PM Subject: [tcb] Re: E brake cable woes I don't know how anything might work, but Steve at Wolfgang has seen just about everything and they manufacture a lot of what they sell. That does not mean that he cannot be full of it, either, but I would try what he said. What have you got to lose? Or you could change the tranny to bone stock ;) -----Original Message----- From: tcb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:tcb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of James Dwan Sent: Monday, August 16, 2010 5:16 PM To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tcb] Re: E brake cable woes okay so I talked to Steve at Wolfgang. He said something that I am still trying to get my head around. He said he has a '57 Bus and used two chrome alloy push rod tubes and some washers and hooked it up that way. He used '64-'67 e brake cables. I still cannot understand how running it through a push rod will take up like 10" inches of slack somehow on the later cables. He also suggested two alternatives: looping the cable with a cable tie and re-shwedging the threaded end onto a cable after cutting it by a hydraulic co. I have not measured the difference in length needed to attach the end to the e-brake arm yet but the later '59 cable length is only 6.4 inches longer and the latter cables are even longer like 10" so I do not understand why he would suggest I use the later cables. Can someone who is experienced in geometry explain this to me? I will make you a sandwich at the next transporters at the point.
