Which tranny did your bus have originally? Split case or tunnel case? They changed during model year 59. If it is a split case originally then the tunnel case (which a big nut is as well as all trannys after the split case) will not bolt up to the frame mounts on your bus. If it was originally a tunnel case then it is simply a bolt it in because small nut and big nut trannys that are both tunnel cases are interchangeable. If not one way to solve this problem is to use the solid mounts. You have the same problem in installing tunnel cases in the Type I that originally came with a split case. I have a couple of bugs that I run with the solid mount and it is no problem. I have heard that the busses, due to the large empty space in the rear cabin are kind of noisy with them. Off the top of my head I can't remember what to do in a bus with this exchange to run a normal front tranny mount. There is a thread on this on the Samba somewhere. What you do in a bug is to replace the nose cone on the tunnel case with a bus nose cone which allows you to bolt up with a normal rubber front tranny mount. --- On Mon, 1/18/10, Eric Woodall <eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Eric Woodall <eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] Re: Did '59s use solid mounts? You definitely want them there though.
