I was reading this page a couple weeks ago, it will answer all your battery questions. Lots of modern RVs have solar panel and battery set ups.

I'm considering a solar panel for the top storage area but know very little about the technology involved.

Aren't deep cell batteries supposed to fully drain before recharging? If so, what effect does a solar trickle charge have on reliability and longevity?

Or should the solar panel be wired directly to the ac source?

Denis: My head hurts, too.
