[tcb] Converting from a generator to an alternator

Hey everyone-
I've got my '72 westy that has a generator that has been giving me loads of
trouble. I've got new brushes and wires and it's still not charging like it
should. I would really like to put in an alternator to end my electrical
troubles (and so I can run my headlights and radio at the same time). Does
anyone have some helpfull advice or informaiton? Thanks in advance.
