I have a portable Bose player that I can plug an iPod into.  Voila!  Music in 
any vehicle!  Music in the woods!  Music by the pool!  It can be recharged in 
an outlet or a lighter.  

Are you sure you are not trying a CD-RW?  I have had bad luck with those in car 
stereos.
