Denis, I bought my Kadrons from AJ Simms for Sparky and have used the AJ Simms
website for tips on troubleshooting the carbs. If I read between the lines, he
is referring to a crossover tube.

I have a synchronizer tool, should I use it?
I do not use a synchronizer tool for adjustments or to setup.
You can try and pinch off the crossover tube and make your adjustments, but
then you will
notice that the car will run like crap after you UN-pinch the tube.
Yes I could sell you one of these synchronizer tools and make some money but
why?
So you can call me asking why your motor runs bad after you pinch off the tube
and try to use one? Some shops will tell you to pinch off the tube to make
adjustments.
Do not pinch off the tube unless you plan on running your car that way.

George Hixon (VWGuru) is a guy who lives up here, he drives a Cab bug and,
not too long ago, sold a restored 21 window (I think), anyway, he was a VW
dealership mechanic for about a hundred years. He called and asked if I had
done the work on Murray and offered his help, but he asked a favor to help him
move some stuff to his new finished shop building (very cool, way too nice,
looks like an apartment, all clean and PAINT on the walls! It is two story with
a trap door and a winch to bring things up stairs)
Anyway, in return he came and adjusted the carbs (I got the replacement Idle
mix screw),set the timing, basically has Murray purring like a kitten. Well, a
huge, angry, asthmatic kitten from Hell.
He said that the only dual carb set-up he was knowledgeable about was Type 3
and they always had an equalizer hose. So far it is about 50-50 about whether
it is necessary or not.
