The fire bus. The owner works offshore and doesn't do email at all. He's going to pay me to do some basic cleanup and research. It was his Grandfather's bus, bought new off the lot. Manufacture date 06/70. It's under the carport at my office now. He didn't have a trailer so I went and picked it up and we took it to the car wash and rinsed it down. He left to go to work this morning, won't be back for 2 or 3 weeks. I told him cleanup only on my part. We all know my record for actually getting repair work completed. I'll be pulling the engine and re-pressure washing the engine compartment. Also peeling up the stick-on flooring he thought was a good idea 5 years ago. Things like that. I already wired in a new flasher module. All the turn signals work. 4-ways only work when the key is on. Is that normal or do I need to dig into the wiring under the dash? Only one parking lamp is working but that's probably issues with the wiring in back that got burned. I also took off the trashed generic plastic wipers, got a set of good RainX wipers, took those apart and put the blades in the original SWF carriers that I found under a seat. Need to sand and clean up the arms though (the part on the bus that holds the blades/carriers), the driver side j-hook is rusted up bad. New rubber brake lines and a rear hatch seal have been ordered. When I'm sure the drums aren't stuck/dragging I'll switch to the tow bar. ERIC: What's the number for the guy who does tent sewing? I showed him the repop tents at the various places like GoWesty and Bus-Boys but we're thinking a blue Sunbrella material tent would look good over the paint job he has on it. If the cost doesn't go too high over the premade prices then he may go that way. Sunbrella material is available at Jo-Ann's for about $20/yd. The repop tents online range from $280 for cotton to $399 for a mildew/fade resistant acrylic blend What should be in the original Hazet tool pouch for 1970 models? His has an 8/11 open end wrench, pliers, the long double-ended lug nut socket, a short single ended socket, the handle to operate the sockets, and a bear claw for the hub caps. What do others use for a pop-top seal? He has the expensive piece (the flap that seals over the luggage rack) but everybody seems to sell the seal for the top as a complete kit including the expensive seal and the surround seal. He just needs the long part that goes around the top. Preferably white because he has the one for the luggage carrier in white. OK, that's all I can think of now. He nixed the idea of getting a '71 front beam unless he can get hubs drilled to keep the bolt pattern the same front and back. Has anyone seen a tow hitch for a '70 floating around cheap? Gerald
