on code development.
Plus it is not absolutely said that "several people all tinkering away on
their own" is a BAD thing
on it's own. I have LOT of midi "translation, layering, mangling" and some
Java programming experience,
and contacted Jan some.... two years ago? Asking some more info on the code
and driver side...
Never had an answer from him.
My point of view was/is that A LOT of work can be done on the midi level
too, with nowadays computer,
and todays in 2021 an hardware like the raspberry pi4 can do the job
instead of the computer inside the
tango.(and that's what I will probably end doing as soon as I got some
spare time) (TANGO 1 here)
Having public code and hardware/driver specification is the way... and
could also lead to more supported
platforms... I think Reaper or Ableton.
goong on like this, Tango's all over will soon became useless IMHO.

Btw - I upgraded my T1 to a (somewhat) working version with a new(er)
motherboard but got stuck at the point where the touchscreen is involved. I
wasn’t able to get the hardware information needed to ‚drive‘ the screen at
the correct timings. It works but I can see, that the timings are wrong.
Anyway - this is only a side note on what could be possible ….

I don’t think this is a easy task and sure time consuming but might be
of value to a lot of us remaining Tango users.
Since I haven’t had the chance to look a the code, I cannot tell (for
myself) if it would be do-able.
AFAIR there once was a discussion about hiring a programmer to make
the Tango software up-to-date product that everyone having a Tango can
use.
Maybe not for free, but we all like our Tangos and would like them to
be a tool for us as well in the future.
I know of other communities where a couple if the members are
developing soft- and hardware and make them available to everyone.
What do you guys think ?
