Hello John,

I might well have a look at that setting myself. It would certainly save me
having to mute and unmute the phone all the time.

With regard to reading of text messages, there is a setting to control this
under the automation tab in Talks.

Hi Hussein <mailto:talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> ,

There is a function in the talks menu that closes speech when the keyboard
is locked. So if the toggle button is pressed there is no voice at all. When
the keyboard is unlocked there is then speech..

Before updating my firmware I nevr had any problem at all. i would also
prefer no speech when a text came in.Just in case it is a good joke.lol

Kindest Regards, John

Hello John,

Just as a matter of curiosity, why do you prefer not to mute Talks whilst
not in use? Does this not become rather tedious especially when you have
the phone in your pocket whilst moving around? One of the reasons I mute
Talks myself is simply to avoid being this odd guy with a chattering phone
in his pocket when he is not even using it!

With regard to the message tone being cut off, you can replicate this
problem as well by checking for new e-mail messages, and ensuring that Talks
is speaking as soon as the messages have finished downloading. You will
hear a standard tone played instead of the set new message tone.

Hi Hussein <mailto:talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> ,

I tried muting it and as you said it does work. What I would like to know is
there any way I can get it to work without either muting it or putting the
keypad lock on.

I assumed the new version of talks prevented that from happening?

Kindest Regards, John

John,

Regarding the new message tone not playing, do you leave Talks muted or not?
Sometimes when Talks is not muted, it will cut external tones from playing,
particularly if they are short ones.

Subject: [talks-uk] upgrade problem

Hi List,

Since upgrading my N82 phone software and installing the latest talks. When
I receive a text all I hear is a bleep. However if I lock the keypad the
ring tone for my messages plays no problem.

Is this a talks issue as sometimes i hear the first part of the text being
spoken. I have it set to talks not reading any text in my messages. I
thought the upgrade of talks solved this problem?

Another talks problem is that in the screen where I type the telephone
numbers to make a call. there are two letters that say the day of the week.
e.g we Wednesday sa Saturday. I attempted to change this to say Wednesday
and Saturday and saved them globally. When I typed a text message it read
Wednesday when I typed we. As the only two choices to save those settings
are globally and application. Is there any way that would allow we in that
screen to read Wednesday etc.

Kindest Regards, John
