That is absolutely no problem sending more than one e-mail, we will answer where we can. I often sread an e-mail over again and find that I have left something out. ----- Original Message ----- From: "yvonne oliver" <yvonne.oliver@xxxxxxxxxxx>

ok no prob yes i do use a screen reader but i had to keep up and down arrow to find bits i had left out. this way i found easier but those who prefer i will try to do the normal way it may mean i send more than one email though Yvonne----- Original Message ----- From: "Barry Hill" <bbinc@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, August 27, 2010 7:44 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Re: top posting, was telling what versionHi YvonneIt's nothing against you, and I sincerely apologise, but I'll probably not read your messages if they are in that format. I have too many emails a dayto try to figure out what is happening in one of them if it's not in a familiar format. Just out of curiosity, do you use a screen reader to read the messages? I know sighted people do this a lot but it is totally confusing for a blind person and sadly and regretably as I would have liked to assist Yvonne, I had to delete it also. I just deleted it without reading past the second name. When I read your message, I was prompted to read further and found that Eyvonne had actually replied after Pete's message. As far as I know, this is a form of top posting that is not usual on theTalks list. Perhaps a mod can advise. Sothat is why you no longer hear this being spoken now you have Talks 5 installed. thanks for that i thought for some reason i had managed to make a default called phone memory instead of the memory card being the default if this was removed from 5 then that is the reason it no longer says memory card when pressing menu plus foft key 2 and not because of something i had done or not doneTalks might now read icons that it previously did not, such as Wireless Lan icons on the N86, this is because the Icon identification system inTalks was greatly improved in Talks 5 - a feature that most people perhapswould not notice or maybe take for granted but it added a great deal ofadded accessibility. yes in 4 it never said as far as i know wireless lan availableif this is because i am in range of a wireless lan location then it mustbe next door or something because i don't have wireless set up here i also notice that 5 when i press options says audio settings where it did not in 4This icon is telling you that a Wireless lan connection is available to you.... An icon that helps you know if you are in range of a connectionor that you are connected etc..... (I do not have a N86 but this is how mostNokia's work) the more you use and learn what Talks can do the more youwill be like....oooooohhhh I didn't know it did that too :-) with regards to your slider call settings, this should not have beenchanged by Talks; as I have not used a N86 I'm not sure if this is justa quirk or a bug in the phone and perhaps some others might be able toclarify on this? But look in menu>settings and look for the settings forthe slider controls perhaps a N86 user can advise for where to locate the setting (for the N97 slider controls are under a item called phonemanagement in the settings menu) you may even have some bugs left onthe device from the previous user; personally I would reset the whole phone if buying second hand just in case the previous owner inadvertently left something on there but this is not something I would recommend if you are not experienced and you do not have sighted assistance available the slider location i have found and it is set to the following requirements 1 answer incoming calls on opening 2 end active call when closing 3 lock keypad when closed i tried this out on a bt fixed line phone and when i closed the slider the bt landline handset went to a dead key tonei also tried it today on another mobile handset with a different number and it terminated the call but i also have my home calls routed throughvonage an internet calls provider when i closed the slider the call was not terminated but continued to ring on the home handset when i opened the slider i wonder if this is because the calls are routed through the internet unlike fixed line and mobile Regarding memory, I believe the N86 has a C: drive, E: Drive and F:drive - C: being phone memory, E: being Mass storage (8GB) and F: beingyour memory card (16GB probably) - the C: drive is usually quite small butthe difference between Talks 4 and 5 in size is quite unnoticeable so ifthis is the only thing you have changed it sounds odd..... Perhaps you have things on the C: drive that you don't need and it needs a clean out....you are quite correct in that it does have 3 drives c e and f and thati do indeed have a 16 gig card installed giving me 24 gig however do you know how much memory the c phone one has? i probably have lots of things on there of which i probably will never even use so i would like to remove them but need to be careful in case they are files for the software or perhaps shared files or something and a I'm basing this on a guess of the location.... But go to menu>applications>office>file manager and you hopefully will see your drives and the size available, press key1 when you are on the C: drive andchoose memory and you should be able to get a list of what kind of items on the phone are taking up what memory..... Just to give you an idea ifyou are low on memory. If you are low then you need to consider removing anything you do notneed.... But that is something that may be good to discuss with Husseinif you can as he has had a N86 so could go through with you to know what items should and should not be installed for that particular model Hope this helps Cheers Pete thanks Yvonne----- Original Message ----- From: "DurDevil" <durdevil@xxxxxxxxx>To: "Talks-Uk Email group" <talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, August 27, 2010 3:23 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Re: telling what version Hi Yvonne Sounds like you are having fun :-) When pressing Talks plus soft key 2 it did previously say memory card; this feedback was removed in Talks 5 because it was deemed unnecessary andpotentially confusing to users - 90% of the time if a user has a memorycard in the phone they will know so they don't need to hear that each timethey do Talks plus soft key2 to hear the signal/battery strength..... However, honestly the space saving will not be that noticeable compared to say,if you were talking about QuickOffice. As for the difference between versions 4 and 5, 5 supports the mail client on the N86, and also of course is the first version to support touch screen phones, which won't of course apply to the N86. V5 ships with updated vocaliser voices which do sound better and have less pronounciation errors for the corresponding dialects than the v521 vocaliser voices shipped with Talks versions prior to v5.For additional information, you may try referring to the release notesfor the v5 release which may well be floating around somewhere. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'm also in the midst of dealing with a bit of a crisis here myself. However, if there's something straightforward I can answer for now, I'll be only too glad to help. Also, an offer I can make you if it's of any help at all, although I'm sure others on here will have time to help, but if you'd like me to goover the uninstall and reinstall process in person, I'd be more than happy for you to call me over the weekend. It's quite straightforward, but I'mhappy to explain it in more detail if you wish. Just making that offerin case it's of any use. All the best, H.
