that's why i hung back though. i have access and i was going to wait until
the very last minute before i got something. the original kapten was the first
of it's kind. so they're going to update it.

I'm disgusted with the Kapsys bringing out another model instead of letting

1. Voice interface
Very easy to use, the vocal interface allows you to:
On navigation mode
: vocally enter your destination address (city, then street, then address
number)
then enjoy the precise and friendly voice guidance. The destination of
choice can
also be selected from pre-entered addresses (geotags, useful addresses,
last addresses...)
On MP3 mode
: select a title or a group of titles through voice command (you simply
indicate
the tile of the song, the name of the artist or of the album, or of the
shuffle list).
On FM mode
: select a radio station, without knowing its frequency, simply by saying
the name
of the station. The corresponding frequency is automatically determined
according
to the location of the device.
On Audioguide mode
: select vocally one of the visits available on the device's titles list.
When on
visit mode, the device vocally guides you to commented points of interest
and automatically
starts the reading of the audio commentaries when you get near the site.
2. Pedestrian navigation
Pedestrian navigation offers guidance that only uses ways that are
adapted to the
pedestrian (streets with a sidewalk) or that's been reserved for them :
parks, underground
walkways, stairs, pedestrian streets or bridges. The itinerary process is
optimized
by taking into account the flexibility of walkers (no one way streets or
a possibility
of a u-turn, for example).
Navigation execution: the navigation instructions are easier to
understand for a
pedestrian user thanks to voice guidance specifically designed for
walkers: distances
are vocally indicated (take a right on the third street), as well as
street names
and directions taking street numbers into account (ex : walk up Champs
Elysées).
Pedestrian navigation also offers the option of public transportation in
big cities
(subway, tramway, commuter train). An integrated public transportation
software allows
you to browse for routes within the transportation networks of the
largest cities
in Europe.
The public transportation application creates a "road book" that goes
from the station
of your departure to the arrival station and which can be played in
sequence (step
by step). For example : at the Place d'Italie metro station, take line 6
towards
Nation, etc)
3. Ktags: geotagging on the spot
With your Kapten Plus, you can, at any time, geotag your preferred places
(home,
bus station, doctor...) just by pressing the dedicated key.
The device, then locates and record the position of the spot (if GPS
reception is
correct).
You can attach to the position, a voice memo. Your Ktags can then be
uploaded to
the Kapsys web site to be completed, categorised, saved and shared. The
Ktags databased
stored in your Kapten Plus allows you to find and navigate to your
favorite places
or the ones shared by the Kapsys community members.
