Hi Yvonne

Sounds like you are having fun :-)

When pressing Talks plus soft key 2 it did previously say memory card; this
feedback was removed in Talks 5 because it was deemed unnecessary and
potentially confusing to users - 90% of the time if a user has a memory card in
the phone they will know so they don't need to hear that each time they do
Talks plus soft key2 to hear the signal/battery strength..... So that is why
you no longer hear this being spoken now you have Talks 5 installed.

Talks might now read icons that it previously did not, such as Wireless Lan
icons on the N86, this is because the Icon identification system in Talks was
greatly improved in Talks 5 - a feature that most people perhaps would not
notice or maybe take for granted but it added a great deal of added
accessibility.

This icon is telling you that a Wireless lan connection is available to you....
An icon that helps you know if you are in range of a connection or that you are
connected etc..... (I do not have a N86 but this is how most Nokia's work) the
more you use and learn what Talks can do the more you will be
like....oooooohhhh I didn't know it did that too :-)

with regards to your slider call settings, this should not have been changed
by Talks; as I have not used a N86 I'm not sure if this is just a quirk or a
bug in the phone and perhaps some others might be able to clarify on this? But
look in menu>settings and look for the settings for the slider controls perhaps
a N86 user can advise for where to locate the setting (for the N97 slider
controls are under a item called phone management in the settings menu) you
may even have some bugs left on the device from the previous user; personally I
would reset the whole phone if buying second hand just in case the previous
owner inadvertently left something on there but this is not something I would
recommend if you are not experienced and you do not have sighted assistance
available

Regarding memory, I believe the N86 has a C: drive, E: Drive and F: drive - C:
being phone memory, E: being Mass storage (8GB) and F: being your memory card
(16GB probably) - the C: drive is usually quite small but the difference
between Talks 4 and 5 in size is quite unnoticeable so if this is the only
thing you have changed it sounds odd..... Perhaps you have things on the C:
drive that you don't need and it needs a clean out....

I'm basing this on a guess of the location.... But go to
menu>applications>office>file manager and you hopefully will see your drives
and the size available, press key1 when you are on the C: drive and choose
memory and you should be able to get a list of what kind of items on the phone
are taking up what memory..... Just to give you an idea if you are low on
memory.

If you are low then you need to consider removing anything you do not need....
But that is something that may be good to discuss with Hussein if you can as he
has had a N86 so could go through with you to know what items should and should
not be installed for that particular model

Hope this helps

Cheers

Pete

hi
thank you for reply and the offer to chat in person
i may well take this offer up see how we go until the weekend
it says wireless lan available when i press the talks key followed by soft
key 2
it use to say memory card
but now it says wireless lan available
i have no idea what is going on here
i have noticed 2 other problems

1 when starting up talks says memory low remove some data from c phone
memory
then it clicks for a while then when i press the end call button i get talks
speaking
when it said phone memory i never got it saying memory low or phone memory
so i need to get it back to as it was

2 i have the slider command set to end calls when slider is closed but for
some reason the call remains active
the ringing of the phone used to call the mobile goes quiet but when i open
the slider the ringing tone on the phone used for calling the mobile
continues ringing
again like above up until i installed 5 the slider would end the call and
the phone used to call the mobile went dead
any idea how i can put this right?

and of course how can i remove stuff from c when i have no idea what is on
drive c
it is supposed to be 8 gig i cant of filled it already

but that was before installing 5
now when i start the phone it says about
Yvonne
