Are you not prepared to ask Sight & Sound to assist Carol?

Ah, so it may be that the N86 doesn't like PC Suite, or
can anyone tell me to the contrary?

Hi Carol,

I connected the phone to my PC in the usual way, but
when the prompt came up on the phone as to what I
wanted to do, I simply exited this and ran the software
updater in the usual way from the PC.
I was told once that the PC suite didn't work well with
the N86 anyway and that we had to use the OVI suite
instead, but I don't know how much truth there is in
this.
Regards,

Rob

Hi Carol,

Jackie is correct, you don't strictly need to connect
to PC suite to update the firmware. I connected my N86
to the PC and the update went very smoothly.

Rob

Hi Carol

But, unless I've missed something here, you shouldn't
need to connect it to PC Suite to update the firmware?
There is an option within the phone itself that should
allow you to do this. It is a good phone, I agree
with that, but there are some quirks I don't like myself.

Kind Regards,

I'm comfortable with it and love the phone, but it
has a few quirks which I hope may be ironed out with the
firmware upgrade, when we can get it connected to PC
Suite.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that. I do hope you'll be able to get
it sorted if you're going for an replacement. The
N86 is truly a great phone, but at the end of the
day you have to go with what you feel comfortable
with.
