But, even simpler than that, if you go into  Tools and
then Device Manager, you can press soft key one for
Options, and check for updates that way.  If you have
your access point set up correctly, you can use your
broadband connection to get any update without you having
to pay via your network.

Jackie is correct, you don't strictly need to connect to
PC suite to update the firmware.  I connected my N86 to
the PC and the update went very smoothly.

But, unless I've missed something here, you shouldn't
need to connect it to PC Suite to update the firmware?
There is an option within the phone itself that should
allow you to do this.  It is a good phone, I agree with
that, but there are some quirks I don't like myself.
