Just Google soft reset a Nokia and you'll get a dozen of hits...
I'm not so sure about contacts though I think a soft reset doesn't delete them.
However, why not make a backup of your phone's memory on your memory card to be
safe. I gathered that your phone is working and you can access menu items? The
backup option is usually in Menu>Memory card and then Options (backup phone
memory).

hi guys, last night, i went to use the voice karen instead of eloquence.
but then my phone just froze up and so i took out the battery and sim
card, put them back in, phone started up with the nokia start up tue and
the name nokia from what a sighted person told me. but i have one new
message on there, and it refuses to go anyware. i've just tried to
connect it to pc suite but so far no joy. could someone please tell me
the code for doing a soft reset? and will that remove my contacts off the
phone?
any help with this would be greatly appreciated as this is the only phone i
have at the moment.]
and also, i did use the other voices, but i uninstalled them as the only
voice i seemed to like was karen and eloquence. (they are the only voices that
i have on my phone)
