The soft reset is the same on all Nokia phones. *#7780# That is Star
Pound/Hash/Numbe 7780 Pound/Hash/Number. then the phone will ask are you
sure? Then you need to press YES SoftKey1. Then the phone will ask
for Lock code. If you have not changed it, it is 12345 followed by OK
SoftKey1 Then the phone will beep and go quiet for a few minutes.

No personal data like contacts will be lost.

        Hi,

Drive C can be formatted however this will result in the loss of all
user data and a restore to the original factory defaults. You can do a soft
reset which will not lose personal data however if the problem is a problem of
registry keys causing applications to be looked for where they don't exist than
this will not be fixed by a software reset.

Current version of N86 firmware is 30.0.9.

        HTH.

        hello Eleanor

i have sent Steve knutt an email asking how much it will be if i have
to have the handset reset back to factory settings

however if there was a way to format drive c like there for drive e
then i could use the phone switch to put my contacts back on because i never
use much on the phone other than to send and receive texts and voice calls

i don't use it on the internet neither do i send emails with it.

so all i would need on c is the talks software firmware and contacts

at least i think that is all that would need to go on c

i am sure if i have left anything out someone will tell me what it is

        so can c be formatted?

        Yvonne

All I can tell you is that we have had great discussion on this list
and the other Talks list about this memory full problem. In the end I found it
best to take my phone to Vodafone and let them update the firmware. It meant I
did not have the phnone for about 10 days but that was not a problem as I had
another one. When I got the phone back I was told that the firmware had been
updated and I did not have the problem again. Some people are good at using PC
Suite and updating the firmware that way. The firmware is a version number so
what you need is for someone on the list to tell you the latest firmware
version on N86 and then they can tell you how to check your firmware version
from the standby screen. It is a series of keystrokes. You could update the
firmware yourself. If you are going to do that, ensure that yhou back-up yhour
contacts etc to the memory card. There is a way of backing up and then when
you have updated the firmware you just restore the backup. However, when I did
this Talks would not Talk so I had to uninstall Talks again and reinstall it
which I did wsith sighted assistance and then all was well.

          Eleanor

            hi

earlier today Pete sent me an email reply explaining that the
reason my phone is not saying memory card is because this is not featured in
talks 5

so that still leaves me the problem of why each time i switch on
the handset it asks me to move or delete stuff from the phone memory

there is very little on c anyway.

i did install an update called s w update and wonder if this could
be the reason

talks seems to work ok but just each time i switch on the handset i
get the c drive message to delete or move from phone memory

            now preparing for the worse.

if it comes to the fact i have to reset the handset and install
talks how do i do this?

how do i reset the handset do i go to factory settings?

or do i use something else

and what about installing talks if version 4 is not there i would
have no sound to hear the installation process

            can anyone help

            Yvonne
