Hi Jenny

I have been reading this thread. I agree completely
particularly with the specialist software such as jaws and
talks and in my case hal. They are very expensive and I have
to purchase the dolphin sma otherwise I wouldn't be able to
afford to purchase the up-grades which are some times very
necessary. As for transferring our talks licenses, £10
should be more than enough, £50 is a bit too much, perhaps
the maximum should be £20. I just purchased talks on a nokia
c5 and later up-graded my license to get the extra voices
but why don't they include all the added extras in the
original cost? we shouldn't have to pay so much for these
gadgets and the special software on top, it works out very
expensive in the long run.

Regards

Adrien

Hi Eliot. I totally agree with you, in as much that it's
appalling how we,
as visually impaired individuals, hafta pay such
extortionate amouts of
money just to do what anyone else can do willy-nilly, as it
were. My 1st
talks cost me, I think, 200 pounds, is that right? After
that it's cost me
to upgrade my licence every time, just as it has with my
jaws. I was awarded
my 1st jaws, but have struggled to pay for upgrades since. I
just feel, as I
believe others do also, that blagging freebees, to put it
bluntly, really
isn't on, and if people are gonna go down that route they
aughta do it a
little more discretely, it's really something of an insult
to those of us
who are struggling to pay.

Best wishes

Jennie
