Hi Not Steve, but a better model (smiles). This business of ringing providers and being told a load of rubbish, only to get the proper answer once you've been round the houses really does my head in. I had a friend ring me the other day saying virtually the same thing as yourself about his texts. He couldn't send or receive, however, though had been using his phone quite happily for some time using texts. But he went to his network provider, and was told the phone would need to be sent away because it had to be unlocked. What a load of crap! He was using the phone, so how did it need to be unlocked for that network? I suggested to him that he get his Message Centre number checked out and this was, in the end, his problem too. I just get really irritated when network providers come out with all sorts of garbage, giving a customer who doesn't know what to do next the run-around. Glad you are now sorted. I called Nokia this morning only to be told exactly what you had stated. I then called O2 and spoke to a charming young woman who guided me through the procedure in a couple of minutes, to put a number in the message center. She of course apologised for the guy not giving me this information yesterday. She said it is standard procedure to give a customer a message center number and that every o2 agent is aware of this. Problem solved and thanks. Kindest Regards, John. ----- Original Message ----- From: Steve Nutt <mailto:steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, September 14, 2009 6:59 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Re: nokia n82 problem Hi John, Did it solve it for you? This is why it is taking you there. To find this out, ring your provider. They may even be able to send you a text with the settings in it, to save you putting them in manually. Every method I use to send a text is brought to a sudden stop when something called "The Message center" opens. I am unable to send the text from there. The only keys that work in that screen are the soft keys and when I press the soft key 2, I am back in the body of the message. I can make and receive calls, receive texts but unable to send them from either the contacts list or in messaging. I cannot reply either as each road takes me to the message center. Any advice would be very much appreciated. I am using talks demo at the moment on the Nokia N82.
