the jaws ones are generally private betas until near the end. this means
that Freedom Scientific distributes beta versions of the software to people who
agree to use it, along with appropriate antidisclosure agreements, gagging
orders and threats of death if anyone discusses new features that may come
along.
the public beta generally appears between 2 weeks and a month before final
release. anyone can download and use this.
It would be good to know where to get the public TALKS beta from when it
appears. It would also be nice to know whether or not a new version will be
free or an upgrade. I do think that now a bigger company owns the product, it
would be nice to have more of a structure and, for example, be able to buy
software maintenance agreements.

No, I had no idea what a Public Beta was. Where is it likely to be
published? I'd often heard people talking about Betas in relation to JAWS but

Hi Babs, a public beta version is one which has been posted to a site
where anyone from the public can download it and trial it. Generally it is pre
released before the main release candidate in order that people can check out
its features and the vendor can resolve any found bugs before the main release.

Well, basically, it's like this.
Yes, the N91 will be compatible with talks but the new version
which isn't currently available. There will be a public beta available of this
within the next week or so I am told. The N80 I understand will work with this
version as well. It's because they are next generation symbian OS phones.
I'll tell ya what I did see though which was very nbice. The new
N73 is smaller than the N70, I'm almost sure of that and I seem to remember
that it will be talks compatible.
My advice would be to hold off for a couple of weeks.

I have been asked by a friend and I just wanted to double check
on here before giving information that might be wrong. The Nokia N91 is
compatible with TALKS? And works well? (I think someone posted a message to
that affect on here recently). And the Nokia N80 is not at present but
hopefully is soon to be?
Hopefully someone can confirm what I think is the case as my
friend is interested in both these phones and doesn't want to get the wrong one.
