Thanks Neil. I wrote to Wayfinder to ask if they were going to support the Nokia Series 60 5th addition phones and they replied not at this time. It means I'll have to keep hold of My E71 for Navogation purposes.

I use WFN and is this discontinued as well? I haveen't had an update for the

last year. I use it very effectively and never had the need to purchase WFA.

also is the price of this program reduced as there is no further
development?

Generally I would say that anyone would have to be plane mad to buy a
program where all development has been discontinued. It is also
reasonable
to have concerns about ongoing future support. On the other hand, there
is
really no alternative. there is the free Loadstone GPS which does work
with
TALKS but it is free and while quite a lot has been done to gather points
of
interest together this is no substitute really for detailed maps. Maps
and
presumably map data will also become out of date too over time. How long
does the contract with the map supplier last that ensures the maps are
kept
up to date?

Hi

Neil & Steve, how many licences are still available? It's all a bit
bizzar as modern software is sold electronically, thus virtual, so a
number isn't defined. The developers would have generated a code
generation system that would exceed projected sales.

Hi Hussein,

A word of sanity spoken there. Well done!

Let?s not all panic yet, just because it is not being developed, it
remains supported at the moment, until licences are gone.

All the best

Steve

Hi,

Thinking with my business hat on, do TalkNav have any software
development experience to date? Are there any products it has
developed in house (software) that have successfully been brought to
market? Just curious.

Also, it is important to note that there are many factors that affect
business decisions. It's a maze of influences, priorities, stakes,
etc. Without hearing from both sides of the story, it's probably best
to hold judgement for now.

Eleanor,

We originally were negotiating to purchase Access from the highest
person in Vodafone Group, who had complete charge of their online
product range. There was no-one higher to dispute or argue this with.

The decision is made, whilst we might have a fight to have if they?d
just cancelled Access, the fact that they wrote the lot off makes that
harder.

It doesn?t excuse not allowing us to take it on, but there is more to
this than any of us really know, of that I?m sure of.

        Not good at all.

It tells us all we need to know right now.

So, a response from individuals and collectively now would be
        good.

I imagine existing customers will be able to use the existing
service, but this is now on the WayFinder website

        http://www.wayfinder.com/?id=3985

        Dear Customer,

Thank you for visiting Wayfinder and your interest in our
products. We appreciate your interest, as our success is built
        upon developing services and products
that are valuable to you, the customer.

We have been working hard on this for many years and due to
the high quality of our products, we have now been acquired by
        Vodafone to make and develop
        products for Vodafone Internet Services.

It is because of our new status as part of the Vodafone Group
we will not be further developing Wayfinder products, beyond
        their current version.

We understand that you may want to continue to use or purchase
a Wayfinder product and so we will continue to sell Wayfinder
        Navigator Online through our
mobile shop. Additional products such as Traffic Information
and Safety Cameras as well as Maploader will still be
available. However, there will no longer
be any further developments for these products. We will still
provide Wayfinder Navigator Online as we are confident it is a
        reliable and robust product,
on all platforms. All other products that have been
        discontinued are listed below.

The good news is if you are a Vodafone customer, you will find
that Navigation is now built in to the New Vodafone 360
handsets and will soon be available
for download or be pre-loaded on a large variety of handsets
across Europe. To find out more about Vodafone 360 and its
        benefits visit
        www.vodafone360.com

Thank you for your support and custom whether you are a new
customer or an existing customer. We look forward to guiding
you on the Vodafone network in
        the near future.

        Yours truly,

        The Wayfinder team.

These products are now no longer available:

        - Wayfinder Navigator with Maps preloaded

        - Wayfinder SpeedAlert
        - Wayfinder Earth

        - City Guides

        - Wayfinder Navigator for Internet Tablet

        - Wayfinder Access

These products are still available but no longer being
        developed or maintained:

        - Wayfinder Navigator Online

        - Wayfinder Maploader

   * The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
