Hi Brian

Well, that is kind of what I am saying.

It should work if you have a pre defined destination.

You would just go out with Wayfinder and Satellites already working.

You wouldn't have to necessarily even navigate to a destination as you can
effectively "see" what is around you as you travel.

I think the "round you" view does exactly that but, would include your
favourite that you would be looking for when you approached it.

Cheers.

Paul

  Hi Paul,

  Thanks for your message.

I was thinking of myself being on a particular bus. Instead of me having to
ask the driver to let me know when the stop is approaching, that i could use
wayfinder to alert me when I am close to the stop, which I would have marked
previously.

  Chat soon,
  Brian.

  Hi Brian

From what I know having only had Wayfinder for the last couple of weeks is
that you could mark a crossing or a landmark that is near to the bus stop once
you got to it so, that next time you needed to go there, it could be in your
"favourites".

e.g. if Bloggs service station was one of the POIs nearest the bus stop when
you got off the buss, you could add it to your favourites and change the name
of it in your "manage favourites" to "bus stop near bloggs service station" or
something.

Then, the next time you go to that stop it will come up in your "favourites
near by view" when you are approaching it.

With regard to having to get to a bus stop that was unknown to you, as long
as you know of a landmark or crossing near the stop, you could find it in
Wayfinder before you set out and then have wayfinder in the "around you" view
where you will get updates as to where you are going and what is around you.

The other thing I have tried in this regard is to navigate to the
destination. Even if the bus doesn't go on the route Wayfinder has set for
you, it doesn't really matter as you will be given a new route automatically
anyway if you have "automatic reroute" set to "on".
Then, at some point in the journey Wayfinder would tell you that you are "x"
amount of distance from your destination.

I hope this makes some sense and sorry if it is not completely accurate or
reliable. As I say, I am new to Wayfinder myself and experimenting a bit.

  Cheers.

  Paul Hopkins

    Hi,

Forgive me being slightly off topic.
I am wondering if it is possible to set up points of interest in wayfinder
access?
e.g. i would like to mark a bus stop, and be alerted by wayfinder when I am
approaching this point of interest.

    Cheers,
    Brian.

    Hi Everyone

I can't add much more to what has already been said.

I agree with everything Steve has said regarding the Hollux 1000 which I
have and I am using Wayfinder Access on a Nokia N95.

The combination works very well with Talks which I use to access everything
    on the phone screen.

I think the whole thing is one of the best products of it's kind on the
    market at the moment.

The other thing I think is noteworthy is the integrity of Steve N himself.

The link he provided will give the opportunity to try the software for free
for a trial period and he is right in that you can get convinced by the
    sales hype of some sites.

It is worth reminding everyone that Steve does sell all the stuff you need
through his site, Computer Room Services so for him not to push his own
    agenda is worthy of mention.

    Steve, I respect you.

    Paul Hopkins
