Hi Tim, I had a somewhat similar experience with my 6730; I am able to read the screen but my menu screen was altered. I haven?t dared adjust it in case I lose everything. You are rather worse off and it might be worth phoning Vodafone in the hope that they might be able to advise. Good luck, Cheers, Mike From: talks-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:talks-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of tim.pennick@xxxxxx Sent: 16 June 2010 12:53 To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Vodafone configuration on Nokia N85 Hi Eleanor, Talks was indeed supplied free by Vodafone. I take the point about upgrading, but would be interested to know if any other Vodafone users have had problems with Vodafone config files, and whether upgrading to Talks 5 would be likely to sort this out. I suspect that I could remove some of the configuration settings if I knew which ones were causing the problems. If yes did you pay for it? I ask because Vodafone do put talks on the phone free of charge on request by those requiring it. However the latest version of Talks, is talks 5. This would be talks Premium and would certainly have more features than Talks 4. I cannot speak for those selling Talks but my own experience was that once I had the Talks which was put on free of charge by Vodafone, I was able to pay an additional £50 and be upgraded to Talks Premium. Maybe one of the Talks dealers will comment. I think you might therefore be able to upgrade to talks 5 for the additional money. Indeed that said when I did pay, where it was a Vodafone (not all y phones are Vodafone) I did ask Vodafone for the £50 back and they did oblige and refund it to me. Just my thought anyway. Eleanor ----- Original Message ----- From: tim.pennick@xxxxxx To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, June 16, 2010 9:36 AM Subject: [talks-uk] Vodafone configuration on Nokia N85 All, I have a ?nearly new? Nokia N85 supplied by Vodafone with Talks installed. When I was setting up the phone following installation of the SIM, I was prompted to download some configuration files. Following this, I noticed that the opening screen had changed, and was no longer readable by Talks. Talks now just says ?add bookmark?, whereas apparently on the screen there?s lots of Vodafone info which appears not to be accessible using Talks. This also has the effect that the incoming message alert isn?t displayed properly, i.e. I don?t get a readable message on the screen telling me that there?s a message awaiting my attention. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any tips on how to optimise use of Talks with the Vodafone config? The Talks version installed appears to be version 4. Also, what I believe to be an unrelated issue, none of the help information appears to be readable by Talks. I realised this morning that the N85 doesn?t have a memory card installed, and Vodafone have agreed to supply one, so I wonder if the issue with the help system is one of lack of space in memory? Any thoughts? Regards and thanks for any tips, Tim Pennick
