First apologies, it is now called key 2 rather than soft key 2. But yeah,
Talks+key 2 and Talks+long press of key 2 are perhaps the most two useful Talks
features.

Hi Paul,
Do you mean that Talks does not indicate that a message is unread when it
is? If this is the case then you will have to do some icon labelling as Eleanor
has pointed out.
If it is only that you need to know how to check whether you have
new/unread messages in your inbox, then you press the Talks key followed by
soft key 2.
