Subject: Talks-UK List Guidelines

Hello All,

I would like to send my first posting to the list wearing my new hat as Moderator. The Talks UK list is a fantastic resource for us all and I would like to straighten out a few points which have recently arisen. Firstly, the list has, since its inception, been virtually without any monitoring. It has in the main, been operating without any problems but without monitoring, occasional flares can spark and, without intervention, can ignite into something somewhat more serious. This has clearly been the case in the recent issue involving one of the list members. The purpose of this email is not to narrow out individuals but to inform everyone that this situation will not in any shape, size or form, happen again. Any individuals who embark on behavior like this will be removed.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Steve, Neil and the other resellers who provide us all with invaluable help and assistance. On a personal note, My apologies Steve, I do hope that you remain on the list and continue to provide your expert support. Also, apologies to all members who have had to read through the ridiculous reams of messages which clearly were inappropriate for this list and should have been dealt with privately.

Now, to the subject of Dealers and Resellers. As mentioned, you all provide an invaluable support mechanism. Please do continue to do so and of course, indicate any information about new releases or products and of course, your contact information. I believe what Graham meant in his email about this is where a dealer may send an email simply to outline and promote all the services they provide. Rather like a cold call. The essence of the list is to provide help and support to each other as well as from the dealers and not for blatant advertising.

I therefore ask that these topics now be closed and we focus our attention on using the list for the purpose intended. For members reference, there will be a list of group guidelines posted to the list within the next few days.

Thank you all and a pleasant evening.

Steve Hyde-Dryden
