Hi Ibby,
You can't turn that off. The number it gives you is the number of
characters you are allowed to type in a text message. The limit is 160. If
you exceed 160 characters, your text will be sent as two separate texts,
which would cost you more money, so we figured that Talks ought to tell you
how many characters you have remaining. To prove this, go into a text and
hold down your hash key. You will hear the number as 160. Type three
characters into a text and do it again. Youwill hear it reduce to 157.
So sorry, you can't turn it off, but I thought I should explain to you the
purpose of it, since many Talks users don't realise there is a limit on a
single message, which is limited by the SMS, Short Message Service, note the
word short.

Hi Folks,
When sending a text message, if I press the hash key to select upper,
lower,case or all caps, TALKS says 160(1) Upper case or 159(1) All capitals,
or 159(1) Lower case.
What I would most like it to say is just Upper or lower case or all
capitals.
Please can anyone advise what changes I need to make in TALKS to make it
talk the way I want it to.
