That isn't it in this case, because they work everywhere else. It is the
darned Orange home screen. Turn it off, and he'll be fine.

Hi Kieran
open talks settings window by pressing talks key plus a long press of key1 or
if you hav a 5th ed phone then its talks key and touch the touchscreen just
above the key1 position. Once in there arrow right to the advanced tab, what
does it say for you in the box for "read function keys"
if it says "by request" then that is the cause, change it to "all" and your all
good.
