Eleanor,

You need to create an access point as I've outlined, if you do it within
web, or e-mail or WLAN within tools, all it will do is use those settings
once, if you do it as a new access point it will remember the settings.

Yes Neil
Mine sees my BT Hub, I just need to get that key and put it in and I should
be up and away.

Carol / Eleanor,

Note that if you're then looking to use this access point when you're at
home for internet and e-mail, within settings of your internet application
you'll need to change the default access point to `always ask`, this will
mean that you'll be prompted when you load web to select an access point, if
you're in range of your WiFi zone then it will be in the list, and you can
select it, if you're not then it won't and you'll have to select your
carriers internet protocol access point.

The same in e-mail setup, go into messages, in here press options scroll to
settings, now down to e-mail, into mailboxes, for each mailbox you'll need
to edit the connection settings for both sending and receiving to the same,
always ask`, which means you'll be prompted to choose.

Carol,

OK, go to tools, settings, connection, access points, in here press options
then new access point;

use the following settings:

connection name - of your choice, this is what your phone will refer to it
as, you could call it home WiFi,

data bearer should be wireless LAN

WLAN network name - in here do a search and select the SSID (WLAN name)
which yours is named, note you may find other wireless networks appearing
here which belong to your neighbours etc.

network status - public

WLAN network mode - infrastructure

WLAN security mode - WPA (note if you're using WEP you must select that)

WLAN security settings - this is a menu in it you'll find;

WPA / WPA2 should be on pre shared key

pre shared key - this is where you type in the WPA shared key

WPA2 only mode off

home page which is back on the main new access point window can be left as
none.

Neil,

I'm also looking for these answers.

We both have Nokia N95's. I too already have a home network set up with WPA
access.

I am wondering whether I have to use the "Add" wizard and whether again I
have to run NET.EXE on both computers, or if there's another way to do this.

Thanks for any info.

Eleanor, I hope I haven't muddied the waters for you now and that we'll both
get the information we need.

Thanks.
