OK, well, I feel a bit passionate about it too because it's been a real time waster and energy sapper for me also! <Grins>

Hi Carol

I went through a period about a year back about feeling
very passionate about this. I contacted the RNIB several
times to ask what their so-called Campaigns department
was doing about this. I got one of those bland Emails
saying they were aware of the situation and keen to help
the people behind them to come up with a more acdcessible
solution. So I ask, what exactly have they done towards
this? Nothing I imagine.

I totally agree there. I have found the audible captchas
really bad, in the main, partly because they want you to
pick out so many words. Why should we have all that
hassle when the sighted people just have an odd word or
picture?
Whilst I appreciate the need for them to be used these
days, I don't think we should accept such treatment and
it's time someone stood up for us.
Before I was able to deal successfully with captchas and
even when I used Firefox, last Christmastime it took me
three whole weeks, on and off, with many tries, to
register for Facebook as the recognition was very "hit
and miss". I tried to write to their Technical
Department but they don't reply. Eventually I found that
I ended up not realising that the first email account
had been accepted and I'd in fact made it and signed up
because Jaws didn't read that part of the screen to me; so I ended up using another email account and having another few goes and eventually registered that also. guess what, I needed to identify yet another captcha to
close one of them down!
I'm sorry, I do get a bit annoyed by all the extra
effort we need to put in to do these things so forgive
my rant!

Matt, I've tried that on some, entering as many words as
I could pick up, but it never works. Why can't they just
play two words? What's the point of having an accessible
version if it's even more inaccessible than the visual
one.

If they're using Recapture, the audio works differently
to the visual. For visual capture you see 2 words and
type them in. For audio you type in as many words as
you can pick out of the audio in the order you hear
them. Its usually part of a film soundtrack that they
play you, a dialogue or something, and you have to
type in every identifiable word you can pick out.

Subject: [talks-uk] Registering for Mundu Radio

Hi Everyone

I've been on the Mundu website to try to register for
the Mundu Radio program. Barbara very kindly sent me
instructions for Solona, and I've now got the tool,
but there is nobody online at the moment to deal with
my capture. So I thought I'd try the audio method. What I don't understand is why you need to put in two words, yet there are quite a few in the audio clip. So, in trying to narrow this down a bit, has anyone
tried it, and roughly where in the clip are the two
words to type in? Are they the first and last words,
which are chopped anyway, or are they somewhere in
the middle that you use?
Blimey how sad is it to waste an entire morning of my
precious weekend chilling out to mess about with this!
But I'm so desperate to download Mundu to play with
that I'm drawn to getting registered.
Oh well, upwards and onwards. Thanks for any
suggestions, and sorry it's slightly straying off
Talks itself, but if I get it, I'll be on track again.
