Hi Hussain, you're obviously a mobile phone guru and know what you're talking about when it comes to many features/technicals on phones, but I feel as if there's an underlying distaine for the iPhone? Your comments "the wise consumers will quickly realise what they are doing" implies there is a divide between people who are wise and people who just buy an apple product because they desire it. This seems to be a popular opinion within the VIP community for some reason.
Everyone has a reason for buying something, some because they do desire it, some because the product delivers and others buy because they are looking for something they'll never find. I think some people will always find a problem, no matter what. All I can say regarding mobile phones is that I've owned 5 of them. The first a motorola, the size of a brick, no speech just a phone and SMS. The second a Nokia N Gage, again pretty big, but I could use SMS, but I couldn't play any games...I had a demo version of Talks, because I couldn't afford to buy it. The third another Nokia something or other, with Talks, I could SMS on this and take photos etc, functional to a point, but nothing to write home about...this had Talks pre-installed on it. My fourth phone was a Nokia N85. Good sound, FM radio and functionality etc. Its a nice phone did what I wanted to, to a point, no internet radio access via the built in function, no games/puzzles, like I say functional, didn't get me excited. There's a pattern developing here don't you think? Starting from a phone with nothing to a phone like the N85, massive jump.
Anyway, on to the phone I currently have, yep you've guessed it an iPhone. It may not have a 10 mega pixel camera for OCR, it may not allow you to connect a dozen blue tooth devices to it as you walk along and it may only use iTunes to interface with, but, it has taken the enjoyment/interaction/entertainment factor of owning a mobile phone to a whole new level. I do not expect a phone to have every feature under the sun, because I think at this time, it might not be possible, but I'm sure in time things will change. Some people expect too much and love to criticise bad points whilst overlooking all the positives. Some people have expectation levels that are too high. Some people just like to be different because they don't like what's popular etc... As a closing note, in the 2/3 weeks I've had the iPhone, my children, my wife, my mates and my parents have all been interested and amazed at the iPhone...the games available for the sighted and blind, the voice used and how clear it is...non of this "it sounds like a robot" stuff. The apps available, the extensive range of voice commands it has etc. I got non of this whilst owning any of my other phones. It's because the iPhone and Apple bandwagon has brained-washed them I hear you say, well it may have, but all I can say is this is an amazing phone if you don't expect it to do everything from washing the pots whilst scanning and reading the bible to you, which some people think is a "must", otherwise it's a terrible phone! well as the iPhone does and I think that's why apple have been so successfull with the iPhone. E.g. do a few things really well and then
hardly
do anything else. As a side note, I also find that posts that rave about the phone can be

unplessent to read and more often than not, the poster is very uninformed about other and in some cases better technologies. I'm not sure if I would want to own a device that would have people instantly label me as a fanboy.
