Oh right thanks Hussein for clarifying that. I must admit I was totally confused and while I know so little I knew it was not something which would meet my needs and was getting confused that you were changing from having criticised it to then supporting it. I simply took advantage of the free shipping to try it and return it without charge. Whereas I did do some research into pricing, etc. for tariffs, this was not as a precursor to getting one. Many apologies if I sent out wrong signals on this one, and if this has only confused the issue further. I still believe there are fundamental flaws in the iPhone, and until these are fixed, and more importantly to me, the software side of things is opened up, that will always be a black mark against it as far as I am concerned. _______________________________________ Have a pleasant day, Kind Regards and Best Wishes, Hussein. Just interested. I find this is often the best way of handling such negotiations as it eliminates external pressures found in a shop environment. Also, I have access to the web and can validate information being given to me by the sales person. I also have a higher bargaining power as I can access information easily and use that to counter the stock offers being given to me by the sales person. And Steve probably has an iPhone for the same reason many who don't like it do - they like one or two features of it, enough to part with the cash but not enough to use it regularly. Either that or something went wrong and they couldn't return it. _______________________________________ Have a pleasant day, Kind Regards and Best Wishes, Hussein. Do you think I'd make it up? Of course you can get different tarrifs, I was quoting the price range I was going for...and the £35 per month deals were exactly the same, they wouldn't move a bit, not 1 bit, all said Apple set the tarrif, I went to all the shops doing that deal and I wasn't going to pay over a hundred for a handset or pay more then £35 per month, so in your wisdom, what would you have done? What deal do you have on your iPhone? and more to the point why do you have 1 if you think they're so poor? Cheers Steve. ----- Original Message ----- From: Steve Nutt To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, May 18, 2010 8:32 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Off topic Hi, Never heard such nonsense. The tariffs are set by the operator and are all different. Apple set their own tarrifs, so it doesn't matter where you go, all the deals are the same. I've had my iPhone for a few weeks now and as far as I can remember (don't quote me), you're looking at around £30 per month=300 minutes/300texts/1gig of data transfer and you'll have to pay approx £129 for the handset on 18 month contract. £35=600 minutes/unlimited texts/1gig of data transfer and you'll pay approx £87 for the handset on 24 month contract. Best thing to do is have a look on the web and you'll get the full picture, cheers Steve. ----- Original Message ----- From: jim To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, May 17, 2010 7:42 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Off topic Hi, Apologies for the off topic message, but not sure where else I could ask this question. I'm thinking of getting an Iphone and I'm wondering what the best cim is out there, with free calls over all networks, text messages and unlimited broadband connection. Would I have to go contract with a cim only card that would achieve the above or could I go pay as you go? If i have to go contract, who is giving the best deals. If you feel this is off topic, maybe you could answer the questions off list at: j_doherty2@xxxxxxx Thanks in advance for any assistance. Jim
