Today I think I find some components that could be updated over the air. Says, go to 'software update' option and there are a list of updates. I have to mark three of them and update over the wireless lan. The problem is left on the first component that could not be reached, because it requires PC to do it. I think OVI suite is not fully access since it was born, and software updater is not friendly for the latest version. Does anyone know how to update the firmware without sight assistance? I have similar problem to what you describe in your first question, re the middle and the time announce. Strange thing is I do not even have to accidentally touch the screen for this to happen. There is a middle on-screen button there and if tapped will indeed bring up a small screen or window with the time on it! Maybe this is a current bug in Talks on the E6. Anyjone else experiencing this prjoblem? Finally you cannot expect the E6 to behave in the same way as the iPhone even though there is voice-over on the iPhone. The speech on both are different. As for exploring the screens to know what icons are there and what are not, I really think the only way you will achieve this is by exploring the screen yourself by sliding your finger all around it or having the assistance of a sighted person who can see what is on screen and you then exploring with your finger to see if you locate as much as the sighted person can see. ----- Original Message ----- From: Eakachai Charoenchaimonkon To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, September 18, 2011 1:24 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Re: New Talks and Nokia E6-00 Thanks for your quick reply and allow me to leave a few questions for further clarity. 1. Why it always says 'middle key' and follows by the current time. For example, when I touch around the navigation key at the middle of the phone or on the screen, it may say 'middle 9:00 pm'. Sometimes it speaks up while I'm doing something but not sure. 2. As I'm really familiar with iPhone gesture input like brushing with multiple fingers, rotering on the screen with two fingers and so on. These kind of gesture input is not possible for Talks and E6-00? So far I'd read through, it seems to me like I can do only a single touch on the screen for executing an object, after the desired item has been reached and read out loud. Though how can we make sure that all items on the screen have been fully accessed. 3. Do you find it's difficult to navigate over a webpage using gesture-based input? I can't move around the long page with quick key facilities and scroll down the page and so on. The best job I can do at the moment is tap on the lower-right or left cornor of the screen to expand the menu items. How can I slide to the new page etc? In addition you could look at the latest release notes for the Talks just released in August. As for the Eloquence, you choose one of the new 3 Eloquence files. I am in the uk and my choice was the Eloquenceeng.sis. It works well on the E6. ----- Original Message ----- From: Eakachai Charoenchaimonkon To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, September 18, 2011 6:24 AM Subject: [talks-uk] New Talks and Nokia E6-00 Dear all, I got a Nokia E6-00 handset yesterday from a Thai local shop. I did install Talks, the latest version from Talknav site; however, I noticed there are three packages for eloquence. Should I install these three sis files or should I use the old? I noticed that the sound quality is pretty low, when I put them on my old phone Nokia N82, and the speaker for my new seems to be poorer than the old. Why Nuance has to break TTS into several installer? Aside from these, are there any video tutorial or demonstration of how to use Talks for Touch-screen-based phone? I decided to buy Nokia E6-00, because I believe qwerty keyboard is still there. Sincerely, Eakachai
