Yes, I sulk with a smile. I like to think my glass is at least half full.

Yes the Nokia N96 does feel very tacky and cheap.

The buttons are absolutely level with the body of the phone and you only
know they are there at all when you start to press them which is crazy.

The sound didn't seem so good: When I first took the N95 out of the box and
played with the ring tones and then, my own music, I was really impressed
with the stereo separation even with the speakers being so small and so
close together with only the width of the phone to separate them.

On the N96, I found it quite difficult to determine which way round the
phone (width or length) had to be turned to hear the stereo sound at all.

The camera lens doesn't even have a cover on it unlike the N95.

The sighted guy I work with said that he thought Nokia had really dropped
the ball with the N96.

I may well give Nokia a call and see what they say about access.

Hi Paul,

Sulking with a smile eh? <Smile>.

I agree with you about the N96 though, it is a monster phone for features,
but the build quality is crap. It's like Nokia have gone back in a time
machine. Cheap, plastic and tacky.

All the best

Steve

I have recently unlocked my Nokia N95 too.

I am still contracted to Vodafone but now have the added benefit of trying
SIM cards from other networks to see if any of them have better coverage
than Vodafone does in my area.

Sadly, non of them do but also, non of them including Vodafone have very
good 3G or 3.5G coverage either.

So, I have the phone unlocked for some time down the road when we have
something better than the coverage we do here now and the first provider to
improve said coverage and a better phone than the N95 (not counting the N96
as, the buttons on it not being at all easy to navigate with no sight), gets
my custom.

...But for now, on most counts regarding service providers, I am sulking
<smile>!

In my humble opinion Scot, no there would be no problem. I got my N95 from
Vodafone and had it unlocked the day I got it. Talks still worked perfectly
with the Vodafone card. Then I put in my Irish 02 SIM and used the phone
just fine in Ireland. Strange thing though when I came back and put in my
Vodafone card and whenever now I have to phone Vodafone Customer Services
the recorded message says they are unable to recognize my number but to hold
on and my enquiry will be dealt with. Despite not being able to recognize
my number which I find very strange with their up-to-date equipment, they do
recognize my PIN no problem. One day when I had time to sit on the phone, I
questioned this inability to recognize my number and got put through to
someone eventually they said it was a problem with their system and then I
challenged that. Finally they said 'you have your phone from abroad' and I
said 'No I got it in a contract from you'. They then fixed the problem and
I was not getting this message but I have noticed recently when I call it
has started saying this again. It is not a problem to me and to answer your
question, Talks worked just fine when I was in Ireland and I look forward to
using my N95 there again.
