Eleanor it's all down to the "Deal" that you do so despite paying the same
it's unlikely that everyone will have the same bundles even if on the same
network.

The customer retention departments at the networks have a lot of power and
if your willing to negotiate then you could do very well - but again if your
happy with what you have then there's no point.

Personally I'm a very loyal person; for example I have been with Orange for
a very long time as in my area Orange and Vodafone are the best for me (but
obviously this is different for everyone in different regions) and I
recently wanted to change Tariff's so had a chat with them and did some
negotiating and reminded them of my loyalty etc etc and I have 400 anytime
any network mins, unlimited anytime landline calls and 300 texts for only
£9.79 (£10 when vat returns to 17.5%) this is a perfect bundle for me and
took some negotiating and should not be available at this price but if they
want your custom they have to earn it as when it comes to a mobile phone
service there are other networks who offer the same service (I gave my wife
the free Samsung touchscreen that they chucked in the deal too) I can even
add a unlimited internet bundle for an additional £5 which I will do once I
start using my N97 as my main phone but even then only £15 a month so I'm
happy :-)

I know Vodafone offers Talks so a lot of people are with them but I
personally would rather buy this from Steve or Neil and install it myself so
I have the network flexibility but obviously not everyone can or wants to do
this

Cheers

Pete

Verry interesting indeed Paul. I am on Vodafone and I can only assume the
same network, pay the same as you and ouch, I don't get anything like you
do!!! I get unlimited land-line calls, 700 minutes, 250 texts and
unlimited, whatever that is, Internet. Something strange here where the
same amount of money gets different deals.

I know Neil, thanks.

I'll have to look into my options.

The tariff is fine with Vodafone, (I think). I get 900 minutes to any
network; unlimited text; internet and 50 odd picture messages for £35.00 a
month.

 Cheers.

Paul,

Personally, I'd splash out for an unbranded unlocked N86, an then reduce
your bill with Vodafone to a SIM only package, this will likely save you
about half the money each month if not more, give you the phone you want,
and by the end ofg the contract period likely give you a saving.

It's terrible really. The N96 is getting on for two years old now isn't it?

Annoyingly, as I say, Vodafone are saying they don't stock the N86 so, the
only option for me is to have a lesser phone in terms of the features of the
N96 or, just try another N96.

Hi Paul

I've also heard that. It was the same with the N82 when it came out too.

Kind regards,

I've been told by Vodafone that they don't have the N86 available. Does
anyone know if this is true or not?

Asking because my N96 has to keep being replaced as it crashes and does all
sorts of other mean tricks.

Thanks.

The N86 is a spectacular phone! I had the N82 before this, and the N86 is
probably the best Nokia I've ever owned! Email and Browser support is coming
very soon, next release for sure! I certainly don't think Nuance would be
foolish enough not to support these features as its the most supported next
gen Nokia available at present. Even Email and Browser are supported to an
extent. To be honest I think a more pressing problem is the fact that you
can't add multi-media content to messages or browse through photos with
speech right now, not without a great degree of trial and error because
there's no speech feedback.

Hi folks,

Been in a bit of a dither over choosing a new phone, choice between either a
iphone or a talks compatible Nokia. Can someone confirm that neither of the
major screen readers for mobiles function fully with the n86? Or maybe
someone knows of a alternitive which will work with talks which is wy fy,
has GPS on board and is a good music player, the n86 seems to be most of
these but also seems to be more of a digital camera than anything else which
does put me off a bit. Anyone currently using the N86? is the keyboard as
good as the N82? going into town at the weekend to have a look but all help
would be appreciated. Off list E mail is below.
