Hi Neil, its odd that Nokia do not state that class 6 works in these phones and the one they recommend (a Mu-44) is a class 2. Mine is for a N97 but it takes the same card as your N86 so if yours takes a class 6 then mine should. I will have a look at the price difference though as i have good on board memory so maybe dont need a super fast extra memory if it works out much more money. Thanks for your input. They are normally more money, the 32Gb class 6 I just bought for my Victor Reader was about £65 and the 16Gb class 6 for my phone was about £35 or perhaps £40. They are certainly more money in my opinion worth it though. Could you advise where you got your class 6 one for your N86 from and was it expensive? Many thanks, Pete -original message- Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Memory From: "Neil Barnfather - TalkNav" <talks@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: 09/11/2009 10:01 am Ibrahim and Pete, The class 6 cards can go up to 20mbps, I use these primarily as you say for video and high end photography, however, if you plan on loading up your card with music they do benefit the search speed especially the first time the phone searches through the card. On my N86 that has a 16Gb class 6 card in it filled with music this speed difference was notable when compared to a class 2 card of the same size. On my Victor Reader Stream with a 32Gb class 6 card in it, the card can be inserted fully loaded with content and is up and running in about half a second ready to go, something which Humanware report as very good considering. There's no doubt that most of the benefit is found in these cases in the initial discovery of content, however, can make a difference if you jump around allot through your collection, or from audio books to music, to other content etc. Neil Barnfather TalkNav TalkNav is a Nuance Accessibility software reseller and authorized distributor of Wayfinder products, with product activation codes delivered direct to your mailbox, why not try TalkNav today? www.talknav.com www.wayfinderaccess.com Telephone from the UK: 0844 412 1062 Telephone outside the UK: +44 161 277 7997 -----Original Message----- From: talks-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:talks-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of DurDevil Sent: 07 November 2009 22:17 To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Memory Cool thanks. It would mainly be for music and audio book storage but if your using for books already then it sounds fine, thanks for your advice. pete -original message- Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Memory From: "Ibrahim Gucukoglu" <ibrahim_gucukoglu@xxxxxxxx> Date: 07/11/2009 10:04 pm Hi Pete. I use play cards in both my mobile and digital book players and find them to be perfectly satisfactory. Of course, you can buy higher speed cards, but people generally only buy the higher speeds for full motion video recording or high megapixel photography because of the larger sizes of the files. All the best, Ibrahim. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DurDevil" <durdevil@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, November 07, 2009 9:48 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Memory Hi Ibrahim, thanks for your answer. I believe the play one is a class 2, is this sufficient in your experience? I read up on it and saw class 6 was fastest but i an not sure if the phones would support or even need it so thought i would see what others had. Cheers again. I'm not entirely sure what it means in real terms, but to give an example, a class 4 card will be slower than a class 6 card and so on. Play do an excellent memory card, fairly priced at under £30. This gives a read write speed of up to 8 MBPS. All the best, Ibrahim. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DurDevil" <durdevil@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Talks-Uk Email group" <talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, November 07, 2009 9:01 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Memory Hi All Not technically Talks related but is phone related <Big cheesy grin> I know there are a few people on here with 16GB memory cards so I was wondering if anyone could help with a question I have; for the Micro SDHC cards that the newer phones take (N86, N97 etc etc) does anyone know what Class level is best for the phones? Nokia do a 16GB card called a MU-44 but they do not say what Class level it is and it's ridiculously priced so I want to buy an alternative brand but there are different performance ones (Class 2, 4 or 6 I believe) so I want to get the most suitable one Any help or suggested model numbers that people have got in their phones would be great :-) Cheers Pete __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4582 (20091107) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4582 (20091107) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4582 (20091107) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4582 (20091107) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com
