Does this happen on other phones, Steve? If so, which ones?

Hi Jackie,

The way it works is like this.

When you tip the phone sideways, the screen goes from portrait to landscape.
This has the undesirable effect for us of swapping the left/right and
up/down arrows on the joystick. The up/down now become left/right and vice
versa. So when you press down arrow, you are effectively pressing left
arrow, and up arrow is right etc.

When you tip the phone the right way up, the accelerometer in the phone
tries to determine what way you are holding it, and sometimes gets it wrong.
Even sighted people can get annoyed with this "feature" but my lovely
assistant Jean explained to me what goes on so I thought I'd share, since
you asked.

All the best

Steve

Glad to hear this seems to work for you and a number of others I have
spoken to recently Ali. Since I have no sight, I don't quite understand
what goes on, but a colleague at work explained that the screen suddenly
goes sideways, and that makes Talks judder and do weird things when you
are perhaps in a menu. Therefore, I always advise people to turn the
rotation off.

Jackie an all,
it seems to Jackie's suggestion to turn the screen rotation off worked.
I have not had talks jumping all over the shop since then.

Thank you.

Hi Ali,

What is the firmware version? To find this out, type *#0000# into your
phone. Note the punctuation in this string of characters.

All the best

Steve

Hi all,

I managed to get my hand on an n82, but, having the following problem.

When scrolling in the main menu, or, the sub menus, talks repeats the
menu items, and, even sometime stops moving and talking. Does anyone
know what this could be and how I can sort it out please?

View is in list, the icon animation is off, active standby is off.

Thank you.

Ali
