Your a bit like me Eleanor. I'm the same when it comes to background colours. I love the white on black scheme as it makes the large screen phone look like a palmtop computer. What's the contrast like on your E71? I was thinking about getting that one for my next phone.

Interesting one Walter. I have N95 Silver Standard one which I love and had the N95 8GB until I lost it a few weeks ago. I actually like the feel of the N95 Silver much more than I did the one I lost. As for the memory all I had to do was put in a memory card. My N95 8GB was replaced by Vodafone with N96 which i find fine. The screen is larger and clearer than that of the N95 phones and I find that I can get an excellent contrast of white writing on a black background. My highlight bar being a tyhpe of pink or majenta. I like that though I would not have sufficient vision to read the text on the phone, I still like being able to see the colurs on the screen and the writing more clearly. I can text on the N96 fine now though I am still finding it very hard work. Maybe it is because the phone is new. I do not think it has to do with the numbers/letters being smooth because when I go slowly it is all fine. Just need to break it in. People talk about the sound uality for Talks and the plastic feel of the N9y6. i have to say that to my ear Talks is fine though I have to have the volume much higher than the N95 to have the same level of sound. Listening to MP3 files are indeed very clear on N96. I also found the N96 and still find that it is much slower whenchanging from one screen to another. This is variable so I am wondering if it is me and what part of the key I amhitting. maybe again when the phone has more use this will not be such a problem. I am interested to hear that you have to pay an addition £135 if you choose the N96. I have a contract with Vodafone which I took out last June withthe N95 and for that I pay £35.00 per month and got the N95. Internet and e-mail are unlimited. Yes, I know people will take issue with that but I am just giving you a rough idea of my situation. Vodafone would only replace my N95 8GB with the N96. Incidentally my contract is an 18 month one. I paid insurance also on the phone which I am glad of now as I lost it. Recently I have purchased the e71 with the qwerty keyboard and like it very much though I have yet to work out how I am going to use the keyboard, whether with one finger (index finger) or a combination of fingers. I think it depends on where and when I am using it. if at home, I would just sit it on my knee and use both hands but this would not be so easy walking along the path in the park or on the bus. I find the sound quality better with regards to Talks in the e71 and there is no slowness in changing from screen to screen. I have many many word documents on my pnones and like to be able to read and edit these. Interestingly though it is Word 5 on the N96 and I have Talks Premium I could not access this Editing function and found I had to purchase the Word 6. Not too expensive but there you are. On the e71 it comes with Quick Office too and the version of Word is version 4. Now that is absolutely fine and I can read and edit documents so no need to upgrade the Word there. However, if I wanted to read Word 2007 then I would have to upgrade. Setting up e-mail was easier and more straightforward on the e71 though there was not much problem with the N96. In terms of size, the N96 is chunky and I have a leather case on it too which makes it a big thick block. I do not mind this but some people do. Yet the e71 which is much slimmer is wider and heavier. Asthetically both look very nice and look nicer I am told by sighted person thanN95 Silver but Iwould not agree with that. I love my N95 Silver and the feel of it too. Granted the screen is smaller and perhaps a little less clear and bright. Hope this helps a little.

Hi all. I have learned that I am now eligible for an upgrade with
Voedafone. The 2 phones I can have are the E71 or the N96 with a
contribution of £135 for the 96. My question is, which of the two phones is
the better? The 96 has 16gig capacity whereas the 71 only has 8. On the
other hand the 71 has a quirty keypad which to me seems a bit fiddly but the
96 being the brother to the n95 I worry it has the same propensity to be
unstable and for ever crashing and the battery life of the 95 is crap. The
n95 I have at the moment is the original one, the silver one that doesn't
have a hard drive. I would really appreciate any input you can give and
your opinions on either of these phones. It seems to be harder getting a
phone now since so many are touch screens. Walter.
