Hi Neil thanks for that explanation. I did however purchase the phone from
their prepay range. The only reason I buy branded Three phones is because I
have had problems accessing some parts of their site through the mobile
browser. I discovered this problem about a year ago with the N82 which wasn't a
Three supported handset. If I was to purchase this handset unbranded then it
would of set me back another £50.

No, it is simply that you most likely have a branded 3 version of the FW, this
is the major draw back to branded phones, Nokia release the FW updates, if you
have a Nokia phone direct, or unbranded, then you get the update once it comes
out, note, only for your region, not all the regions are released in one go.
Then once that's happen, your branded phone's carrier has to create their own
version of this FW, ordinarily this is about 8 months behind...
so try not to get them branded, most times this costs more in the outset but
works out cheaper over all, as they give you a discount most times for not
having a phone.

Subject: [talks-uk] Firmware update
Hi. I'm trying to update the firmware on my Three branded Nokia E63. The latest
version should be 2.2X I'm running 1.1X. The Nokia software updater searches
for my device as it is not listed in the list box when I run the updater. After
proceeding with the following screens the software will search for my device
for a minute and reports back that there is no updates available for my device.
How could this be when the version is released. Is there something wrong with
the software updater?
